Questions we get asked
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between onsite and offsite backup?
An onsite backup is stored on a device in your office for fast restores. An offsite backup is copied to a data centre, so your data survives theft, fire or ransomware at the office. Our Silver and Gold tiers use both.
How long does Baseline IT keep backups?
Retention is 30 days on Basic and Bronze, 60 days on Silver and 90 days on Gold. Microsoft 365 data protection keeps data for up to 7 years.
How quickly can a server be restored?
On the Gold tier the target is 24 hours for an onsite restore and 6 hours from the cloud. Cloud-hosted servers with VM snapshots are back within 4 to 6 hours.
